Many people believe there is a fundamental difference between science and religion. Science is founded in testable and provable evidence based on observation, while religion calls us to believe in what we cannot always tangibly see. However, there is much in the physical world that may lead us closer to our faith, rather than further from it. King’s High School science department teacher, said this:

I think there’s a misunderstanding that science and faith are mutually exclusive of each other. At King’s, we don’t see it that way. In fact, we see the physical world and the spiritual world as being one.

At King’s Schools, faculty helps students see the correlation between science and faith. They explore how faith, in many ways, is backed by the scientific exploration of the world. One of these lessons is in the high school physics curriculum. Dr. Santucci said this of the program:

God has revealed to us the unseen, by the seen. In our physics course, He teaches the laws of thermodynamics. One of them, that we understand, is that for every action there is an opposite reaction. We use that as an opportunity to share with our students that this undeniable law in the physical world is also played out in the spiritual world where scripture has told us that every choice has consequence.

Science Proves the Existence of God

This unique approach to Christian education teaches students to let their faith be informed by the world that they exist in and observe. Instead of accepting society’s opinion that science and religion are at war with each other, students hypothesize and make note of the way that they are interconnected. A secular view on God and science will often speak to how the two are incompatible, such as that says:

When you look at the vast size of the universe, and how insignificant and accidental human life is in it, the existence of a God seems most implausible.

Whereas the King’s Schools approach says that this very reasoning speaks to proof that there must be a divine Creator for that type of existence.

Science is Not Anti-God

Other belief systems may throw science away altogether to more faithfully follow God, but King’s Schools does not practice this either. We lean into all fields of science, that it might even reveal to us the very nature of God himself. Dr. Santucci said:

In Christian education, we are the garden and gardeners. God gives us the ability to use the tools of understanding the mechanisms of biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. These mechanisms of His creation help us better understand the world, step out into that world, and become leaders in those fields of .

Helping students to engage with the world, instead of separate from it, allows them to grow into future leaders in all areas of life. At King Schools, educators like Dr. Santucci are leading the way in equipping high school students to think critically and understand deeply. This innovative approach to education is creating future thought leaders in science and beyond.
