King's Preschool students love to engage in听dramatic听play, sing听spontaneously,听explore textures & colors,听and design听masterpieces for the family听to听display.
At King鈥檚 Preschool, located in Shoreline, near Seattle, WA, we听implement听鈥淐reative Curriculum鈥澨齮o intentionally incorporate a range of artistic exploration and expression throughout learning听opportunities.听听
Preschoolers use a wide variety of materials and tools to express their uniqueness, wonder, and growing knowledge of the world. We teach language and math through visual and performing arts throughout the day, making it effortless for students to absorb information and learn skills they will use for the rest of their lives.
Music is a听major听part of the听preschool听day听and is used听to prepare听students听for听elementary school as well as听to听fill classrooms with fun and joy.听Students听explore instruments and听enjoy singing in circle time, during transitions,听and other times throughout the day.
A variety of art and writing materials are听available in the classrooms听to allow children to manipulate objects and explore their creativity.听Art and writing centers听are听designed to give children the opportunity to develop, create, process, and work through their own plans and ideas. Teachers guide children in these centers to听further听develop听language and communication skills through the听art and writing听process,听optimizing听autonomy, and听allowing children to become confident and proud of their听choices and听accomplishments.
At this center, children take on听various听roles and recreate real-life experiences while building their vocabulary and social skills through cooperation and community play.听Through听dramatic听play activities, students develop听a greater听capacity听for communication听and important听habits of mind that extend far beyond classroom walls and school years.
In addition to our centers, circle times, and other artistic opportunities throughout the general school day, we offer specialty classes each day of the week. These Dance, Music, Drama, and Visual Arts classes, taught by experts, promote creative learning, foster multicultural awareness, and reinforce and enrich skills and content being taught in the classroom.
