For 75 years at our focus has been on college prep and students growing in both academic excellence and personal development. Since 1984, we have grown our multicultural community and welcome students from all over the world in addition to the Seattle area. Our International Boarding Program provides a transformative educational experience for students from every corner of the earth. Designed to support academic excellence, spiritual growth, and cross-cultural and cross-generational connections, our international program fosters a nurturing environment where students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
A Home Away from Home
King’s International Boarding offers more than just a place to stay—it provides a welcoming community rooted in faith and learning. Our boarding students experience a structured, supportive, Christ-centered environment that nurtures academic success and personal development.
In August 2025, King’s will open a new, state-of-the-art boarding facility for international students on the Shoreline campus. There will be 1, 2, and 3-bedroom options with laundry, dining, and living room facilities. A study center and game room will be open to students, as well as a business center and kitchen. This new facility will create an environment where students can feel at home and live out what God calls them to be. International students will have an opportunity to live on campus with their F1 visa and can attend a very good private school that will launch them to one of the world-class universities in the Seattle area.
Mary Hudon, King’s International Director, was walking through the former skilled nursing facility on CRISTA Shoreline’s main campus, which houses King’s Schools, and thought, “This would be an amazing place for these international students…”
After researching a few other facilities in the area to compare and getting approval from Jordan Gage, King’s Head of Schools and the CRISTA board, and Jacinta Tegman, CRISTA’s CEO, Mary felt confirmation that this facility would be the home for the international students.
A Christ-Centered Education
At King’s Schools, faith is at the core of everything we do. King’s exists to build resilient disciples of Jesus Christ. Our international students, many of whom may not have a relationship with Jesus, will hear the Gospel for the first time and grow spiritually through chapel services, Bible studies, and mentorship opportunities. Living in a Christ-centered community helps students develop strong moral values and a deepened relationship with God. Attending King’s Schools allows international students to receive spiritual nourishment and the care and attention of teachers who love them and want the best for their lives.
Cultural Exchange and Lifelong Friendships
Diversity is one of King’s Schools’ many strengths. The International Boarding Program brings together students from different backgrounds, creating an environment where cultures blend, and lifelong friendships are formed. This global perspective enriches the learning experience, encouraging students to develop cultural competency and a deeper understanding of the world.
However, cultural diversity is not the only chance at deepening relationships. Because King’s Schools shares a campus with , being a King’s student provides a unique opportunity for students to break generational barriers in addition to cultural divides.
When asked about this unique experience, Mary shared that this opportunity for students to be surrounded by senior residents willing to invest in King’s students is one of a kind. Students can mingle with senior adults at Pilgrim Coffeehouse, take walks between classes around the beautiful campus, or even participate in the , where a student at King’s and a CRISTA senior living resident interview each other and share wisdom across generations. This access to senior wisdom is incredibly valuable for many families from some European countries who value their elderly and see their life experiences as opportunities to gain wisdom and deepen generational relationships.
Academic Excellence and Personalized Learning
International students are hungry for opportunities to come to the United States and receive a world-class education that will propel them to a university and adult careers. King’s Schools is known for its rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, preparing students for top universities worldwide. International students receive individualized academic support, ensuring they excel in STEM, humanities, and the arts. Small class sizes allow for personalized attention, and faculty members are dedicated to fostering intellectual curiosity and strong moral character.
However, King’s Schools offers a different approach to education than many other schools in the region in that King’s focuses on education and life balance. Many international students coming to King’s have experienced high-pressure educational institutions in their home countries with little time for family, extracurriculars, and building relationships outside of school. At King’s, we meld academics and relationships together. Mary Hudon spoke about another unique opportunity on the King’s campus because it shares a campus with CRISTA’s other ministries: Internship opportunities.
King’s 11th and 12th grade students have a rare opportunity to intern with any of CRISTA’s other ministries right on the campus where they attend classes. Whether it be or the marketing department, or if they want to travel off campus and intern on the beautiful property of Miracle Ranch with , there are many opportunities for students to gain practical experience from a wide range of career opportunities.
Preparing Students for a Global Future

As we continue to welcome students worldwide, King’s Schools remains committed to fostering an environment where international students feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their highest potential.
